Broken Plains offers exciting Merriam’s turkey hunting across the rugged landscapes of Central Montana. From open prairie to breaks and river bottoms, this diverse terrain provides prime habitat for hard-gobbling Merriam’s toms and creates the perfect setting for a classic spring turkey hunt.

Guided calling setups put hunters in the heart of the action as gobblers respond to the call and work their way across the Montana landscape. With expansive private ground and healthy turkey populations, Broken Plains delivers a thrilling spring hunt filled with crisp mornings, echoing gobbles, and unforgettable encounters in Big Sky Country.

What to Expect

  • 1 male Merriam’s turkey per hunter
  • Decoy setups combined with natural ground hides
  • Pop-up blinds used when conditions or bird behavior call for it
  • Hunting style based on terrain and bird movement
  • Fully guided or semi-guided options available (contact us to discuss semi-guided)
  • All hunts on private ground with controlled pressure

Prairie Dog Hunt Add-On

Select the “Prairie Dog Hunt Add-On” during booking to add a half-day of prairie dog hunting. Balance due at the end of the hunt.

Licensing Requirements

  • Montana Base Hunting License
  • Montana General Turkey License
  • Montana Conservation License
  • Hunter’s Education Certification (unless born before 1/1/85)

Purchase all licenses at ols.fwp.mt.gov prior to arrival.

Packing Suggestions

  • Camouflage hat & face covering
  • Waterproof & windproof camo outer layer
  • Weather-appropriate layers & moisture-wicking base layers
  • Camouflage gloves
  • Ear protection
  • Shotgun w/ plug: 12 or 20 gauge recommended
  • Ammunition: turkey load (Migra available on-site)
  • Cooler for transporting bird
